Margaret is coming along, slowly but surely. I realize now that over half the cables I chose for Margaret cross every other row. (Crossing is what you do to make a cable twist and turn. When you aren't on a 'crossing row' you are knitting a plain row- a blissful, mindless, relaxing plain row.) There exist many simpler cables that only cross every 6th or 8th row, and beautiful ones too. I didn't pick those cables for Margaret. I love crossing, and its amazing to watch the knitted fabric grow before your eyes with all that lovely texture, but its slow going.
That's ok, I'm in no hurry, and I passed the point long ago that I have to think about how to cross, by now my fingers just do what they need to. It gives me time to think. Often I've been thinking about what my next cabled sweater will look like! Carmel brown, with big diamond cables, and pockets, and cables that don't cross so much.
